For those who crave to be outdoors and close to nature a forest holds as much allure as a beautiful mystic mountain. The lush greenery, a river flowing by and the sounds of birds chirping in the trees around you have a magical effect on most people. Especially, when you are trying to run away from the crazy noises and stressed out life of a big city.

Just pick up your tent and your gear, sound off your close friends and head out to the nearest forest reserve, where the temperature will be cooler, the air crisper and the green is a treat to your eyes. If you are the adventurous types and wish to explore, collect a few friends and plan a trip into the real wild. You can choose any forest close to where ever you live and plan a night in the wild. Just grab some food, some drinks to go around and an old guitar and head to any national reserve. You can pitch a tent in a shady spot, put around some sleeping bags for comfort and check the periphery of the site you choose for camping for safety. Once that is done, take a walk along the river, go exploring and enjoy the pristine beauty of the forest. When night comes around, collect firewood and roast some marshmallows, heat up frozen food or make instant noodles for some fun and play some hearty music or catch up on each other’s life over some freshly roasted food and drinks.

Incase you are travelling with your family and kids, it is a better idea to choose one of the many campsites especially designed for families who want to camp in forests. These are safe, with most regular facilities like toilets available and make your experience more comfortable. There are a variety of national reserves which offer campsites to many families, like Redwood Forests, Buckloons Campgrounds and many others. These have picnic tables, toilet and shower facilities, charcoal grates and even electrical hook –ups. You can experience the calm and quiet of the forest just as well and also live with comfort which might be necessary for the kids.
